4 sheet poster size: UK dimensions and artwork guide
A UK 4 sheet poster is 40 × 60 inches, or 1016 × 1524mm. It has about 3.1 times the area of A1, with different proportions, so an A1 design needs checking before it is enlarged.
This large poster format is used for advertising frames, campaigns and event displays. Check the frame owner’s specification before ordering: the name of the display does not always tell you its exact print size.

Four sheet is not an ISO A-series size. A1 is 594 × 841mm and A0 is 841 × 1189mm. If you are adapting a design from either size, check the layout rather than stretching it to fill the new page.
Is a 4 sheet poster the same as a quad?
No. A UK cinema quad is generally 30 × 40 inches in landscape format. A 4 sheet poster is 40 × 60 inches; that size is also called a double quad in some poster terminology. Specify the finished dimensions as well as the name to avoid confusion.
How it compares with A1 and A0

A 4 sheet poster covers about 1.548 square metres, compared with about 0.500 square metres for A1. That gives it roughly 3.1 times the area. A-series paper is also a different shape: enlarging an A1 file to fit can leave borders or crop the design.
If the poster will be read from a distance, check the headline and contact details at that distance. A larger sheet does not make small text useful automatically. Keep the message short enough for the display’s location and viewing time.
Set up the artwork for the actual frame
Ask for the frame owner’s current artwork specification before designing. Confirm the trim size, visible area, bleed, material and any instructions for supplying the file at reduced scale. A frame can cover part of the printed edge.
The Station 4 specification on Specle lists a 1016 × 1524mm trim size. Its production instructions apply to that format, not every 4 sheet poster job. If you supply a half-size file, make the scale explicit and check image resolution at the final printed size.

Choose the material for the display
Blueback paper can reduce show-through when a poster is pasted over an earlier campaign. An indoor short-term display may need a different paper, while a backlit frame has its own requirements. Tell us whether the poster will be pasted, framed, lit from behind or exposed to weather.
If you need a freestanding or longer-lasting display rather than a paper poster, a board or banner may be more suitable. We can discuss the options from the intended use rather than choosing on sheet size alone.
